Before any discussion of which treatment to proceed with, ask: what is the diagnosis? What specifically is causing my concern? A responsible practitioner should be able to give you a clear answer about the underlying mechanism before recommending a treatment. If the conversation jumps straight to solutions without explaining the cause, that is worth pausing on.

Ask how this treatment works — not the marketing version, but the biological mechanism. What does it do inside the skin or scalp? Ask what evidence supports it, what results are realistic for someone with your specific presentation, how many sessions are typically needed, and what the expected timeline for visible improvement is.
Ask what to expect immediately after the treatment, in the days following, and over the subsequent weeks. What is normal and what would indicate a complication? What should you avoid, and for how long? Understanding the recovery timeline helps you plan practically and reduces the anxiety of unexpected reactions.
Every treatment has contraindications and potential side effects. Ask what they are. Ask whether there is anything in your medical history or current medication list that the practitioner needs to know about. Ask what the plan is if you experience a side effect. This is not about being difficult. It is about being an informed participant in your own care.
Ask what the plan is if the first course of treatment does not produce the expected result. Is there a review point built into the protocol? What are the alternative approaches if your skin or scalp does not respond as anticipated? A practitioner who has a clear answer to this question is one who has thought through your case carefully.
